Mahur is a religious town in Nanded district. Here the temple of Goddess Renuka Devi is situated in natural beauty on a hillock. The hill is at a distance of about 2.5 km from the Mahur town. The Mahur Renuka Devi temple is half ‘shakti peeth’ out of the three and half shaktipeeth of Devi in Maharashtra. There are three hills in Mahur. The first one and most known is having Renuka Mata Temple, who is mother of the god Parshuram. Mahur is also said to be the birthplace of Lord Dattatreya who was born to a goddess, Anasuyaa. The other two hills are called Datta Shikhar and Atri Anasuya Shikar having respective Temples.
