Kunkeshwar in the Sindhudurg district is famous for calm and clean beach. The Kunkeshwar temple, also known as the Shiva temple, is believed to be built around the 12th century by the rulers of the Yadava dynasty. This temple has been constructed in the Konkani architectural style. Kunkeshwar temple is famous holy place in Konkan, and is also known as Konkan Kashi. A walk through the 5 Kms long Kunkeshwar beach across the temple on one side of the hill has quieting effect on the mind. Greenery of coconut and mango trees surrounding one side of the beach adds to the beauty and makes the tour a memorable one.
