Kalsubai is the Everest of Maharashtra. It is the highest peak of the mountain ranges of Sahyadri. Kalsubai Peak is at a height of 1646 meters or 5400 Feet above sea level. As it is the highest peak, Kalsubai trek is a dream of every avid trekker in Maharashtra to climb it at least once. The most popular route is through the eastern mountain face taking off from the base village Bari. The trek is of around 6.6 km distance with an elevation gain of around 2700 ft. This is a one day trek having a moderately hard difficulty level with lush green landscapes and multiple waterfalls. Kalsubai - a local deity temple is located at the topmost summit. Kalsubai owing to its height offers magnificent panoramic view of the surroundings hills and backwaters of Bhandardara. Kalsubai is part of the Kalsubai - Harishchandragad Wildlife Sanctuary. Near Kalasubai there are number of treking - hiking routes, this region in the Sahyadris is a paradise for trekkers.
